Packing & wrapping
The move is only as good as the wrap. We pack the way we would want our own grandmother's china packed: proper paper, honest cartons, and a label on every box that says exactly which room it wakes up in.
How we pack
- The fragile trades first. China, glassware, artwork and lamps get paper, bubble and double-walled cartons. Flat-screens travel in purpose-made boxes, mirrors and glass in picture cartons.
- Furniture is wrapped, not gambled. Blankets and stretch-wrap on every piece that can mark or be marked. Slab timber, leather and lacquer get the extra layer.
- Labelled room-true. Every carton carries its destination room and a one-line contents note. Unpacking at the other end becomes sorting, not archaeology.
- Sealed and stacked to carry. Heavy low, light high, nothing half-full. A well-packed carton is a safe carry on a split-level stair.
Whole house, or just the hard rooms
Plenty of Forest households pack their own linen and books and hand us the kitchen, the cabinet and the artwork. That is a sensible split and we quote it happily. A full pack usually runs the day before the truck, so moving day starts with lifting instead of wrapping.
What it costs
Packing runs on the same straight hourly rates as everything else, usually the two-mover crew at $250 an hour, plus the packing materials themselves, quoted plainly with the job. Tell us what the house holds on the callback and we will give you an honest read on the hours.
